NCBO Integration

We have a collaboration with the National Center for Biomedical Ontologies funded by a NCBO Driving Biological Project (DBP) subgrant.  The grant starts August 1, 2011 and runs through July 31, 2013.  It's purpose is to fund our use of NCBO technologies, especially alpha services, to provide feedback to the NCBO development team.  The rough budget is: Mike 15%, Nicole 15%, John 50%.

Notes from Trish Whetzel on 8/15
  • Some NCBO UI elements are build on FLEX.  There is an effort to build a GWT-based UI for working with ontologies at the University of Victoria called Biomixer
  • NCBO distributes some of their services, esp Annotator as VM appliance.  Asked about AMIs and they said they looked at it a couple years ago but haven't really used it.
  • Open Facts in Europe seems similar in mission and approach to Sage
