Validate user requests for profile changes

This article steps through the Governance process to validate user identity for making administrative changes. This may be needed for incidents in which a Synapse user is locked out of their account. This should be performed by a member of ACT so that access restrictions and account verification requirements are consistent.

Instructions

  1. If the account is verified, ACT should complete account verification steps again to re-identify the person making the request.

  2. If the account is not verified but has access restrictions, ACT should evaluate the the data use certification (DUC) on record to validate that the person making the request matches the individual approved through the DUC process.
  3. If unclear, the person making the request may be challenged to provide non-public details from their profile, such as prior email addresses.

  4. Create a ticket for Synapse admins to make a change to the user profile
