Synapse utilizes Amazon S3 to store and host data managed by default. This includes files, tables, wiki pages. Synapse Project Owners can specify the default storage location for data uploaded in the project. This may include the default Shared Synapse Storage (in AWS Amazon S3), a Custom Storage Location (AWS Amazon S3 or GCPGoogle Cloud Platform) or an Individual Storage managed for the user by Sage.

Storage managed by the user who controls the storage bucket. Storage and egress costs are paid by the owner of the bucket and no limits are imposed by Synapse.  Data storage and egress from custom storage does not count against the Synapse Plan limits. Custom storage may include locations outside of AWS (such as Google Cloud Platform). For more infromationinformation, see: https://help.synapse.org/docs/Custom-Storage-Locations.2048327803.html
