This article describes the procedure for how MODEL-AD teams should submit new mouse model information to the Sage Data Coordination Center (DCC). Information about the model will be posted on the experimental tools page on the AD Knowledge Portal.

Please provide information about the model in this MODEL-AD Tools survey. The strain information should match that on the JAX strain webpage.

  • Email address (of the person submitting the survey)

  • Grant number

  • Species (eg, Mouse)Model Common Name as listed on the MODEL-AD Strain Table

  • Model system name (see names in the AD Metadata Dictionary)

  • Model URL to Jax strain page
    ex: https://www.jax.org/strain/031988

  • Report card URL to AlzForum strainresearch model
    ex: https://www.alzforum.org/research-models/3xtg

  • Model description (<500 characters)

  • List of genes the model is targeting

  • Background strain (eg, C57BL/6J)

  • Type (LOAD – Late Onset Alzheimer’s Disease, FAD – Familial Alzheimer’s Disease)

  • FUTURE DIRECTION: Submit At the bottom of the survey, you can upload a PDF of the mouse model report PDF. This report should be uploaded as one question in the survey. A new survey object will need to be created. The AD-DCC will then add the strain report into add it to the Mouse Model Reports in Synapse.

Step 2: DCC adds model to the AD Knowledge Portal

The DCC writes release notes to inform the community when a new model is available. The release notes are posted in AD Knowledge Portal News and link to the experimental tool in the AD Knowledge portal.

FUTURE DIRECTION: When a new model is made available, the DCC will write a feature story about it for the newsletter. See past AD Knowledge Portal Public Data Release Notes.
