Logging into the host

We have a windows EC2 host that we leave in the "stopped" state since we do not use it often. Please be sure to "stop" it when you are finished using it but please do not "terminate" it.

  1. Log onto the AWS console using the platform@sagebase.org account
  2. Select the instance named "Windows Image For R Client Builds"
  3. Pull down "instance actions" and choose "start"
  4. Wait a couple minutes and the public DNS name will be available on the AWS console
  5. Connect using Remote Desktop
  6. username: Administrator
  7. password: you can find it in file sodo:/work/platform/PasswordsAndCredentials/PlatformAWSCredentials/i-361d9b59.windowsPassword
  8. use the machine for a while
  9. Go back to the AWS console and "stop" (not "terminate") the host
