how can a user verify a new email if they have lost access to their only email address

Description

We had a notice that a number of collaborators will be losing access to an organizational email that they likely used to register for Synapse. I am notifying them that they should immediately add a secondary email address, as our system currently requires that a user verify a new email by clicking a link to the original address.

If there are individuals who do not do this, what is their next course of action to be able to add or change an email address in their user profile?
